Family Events

Cottonwood Parks and Recreation sponsors many community and special events throughout the year. Different events are geared toward children, families, or adults. Many of these events are free or at a minimal cost.

Underwater Easter Egg Hunt & Carnival - April 3, 2021

Park & Recreation is excited to share this year’s Easter program which will be held Saturday, April 3 in the Cottonwood Recreation Center! This event is open to children ages 10 and under. Join us at the rec center and meet the Easter Bunny, swim and hunt for eggs in the pool area, play carnival games, and win candy and prizes! Groups must register for one 30-minute time slot in the pool for the underwater egg hunt. If you arrive a bit early, you can enjoy our setup of carnival games in the gym until it is your turn to enter the pool!

Pre-registration is required for this event. Masks are required except when in the pool. The maximum capacity is 25 persons per time slot. You may only register your group for one 30-minute time slot. Time slots are available from 12 - 6 p.m.  Register here

Pre-register online now through March 29 for a chance to win an “eggstra” prize! Please enroll everyone that will be attending. To register, click on the Register & Reserve tab.

Regular open registration will be available from March 29 – April 1 by 5 p.m. Please call (928) 639-3200 x 3205 or email and leave the names of all children that will be in your group and your preferred time slot. 

Please note that not all time slots will be able to accommodate your group.

Halloween Trunk-Or-Treat - October 31, 2021 from 4 - 7 pm

Princesses, dragons, ghosts, and ghouls! Join us on Halloween for a night filled with more tricks than treats! Join us in the Cottonwood Recreation Center's parking lot for a spooktacular night of trick or treating! Walk throughout set up of decorated car trunks that follow this year's theme of "Wizarding Worlds!"

This event is free and open to the public for trick or treaters of all ages! If you would like to decorate your own trunk and pass out candy, be sure to contact no later than October 25, 2021.

Held each year on the Fourth of July at the Cottonwood Kid’s Park adjacent to 12th Street. This family event has free hot dogs, hamburgers and watermelon, watermelon eating contests, patriotic salutes, and the best pyrotechnic show in Northern Arizona.

Old Town Music & the Market - 2020 season postponed.

Join us at the Old Town Activity Park for Thursday evenings in May, June, and September. Shop locally grown fruits and vegetables, handcrafted and homemade items, and more while listening to some of the best regional musicians around.

Cottonwood Summer Cinema Series

Join us for free movies at the Old Town Activity Park and the Cottonwood Aquatics Center. Refreshments will be available for purchase at both locations. 

Dive-In Movies at the Cottonwood Aquatic Center: Second Saturday of June, July, and August. Gates open at 7:45 pm, movies begin at dark. Movies in the Park/Club House: Last Saturday of June and July. Seating begins at 7 pm, movies begin at dark.

Daddy Daughter Date Night - June 18, 2021

A special night for daughters ages 5 to 17 and their amazing dads. Held the Friday before Father’s Day at the Cottonwood Recreation Center. Tickets go on sale at the beginning of May.

Missoula Children’s Theatre - 2021

The 2021 Cottonwood Residency is The Emperor's New Clothes. Preregistration opens Tuesday, May 25th. Rehearsals will take place June 21 - June 25 with a show date of Saturday June 26th. Rehearsals and Show time will take place at the newly renovated (and air-conditioned!) Cottonwood Community Club House (Cottonwood Civic Center) located at:

New Year’s Eve Celebration - December 31, 2021

Celebrate the New Year with the City of Cottonwood’s New Year’s Eve Celebration at the Cottonwood Recreation Center. Free for everyone! From 6 pm to 10 pm on December 31, 2021, we will have swimming, holiday movies, cotton candy, popcorn, hot cocoa, family games, and more! Then join us in the gymnasium to watch the Time Square Ball Drop along with sparkling cider and our own balloon drop celebration. This is a fun, family-friendly, and free celebration event!
