Family Events

Cottonwood Parks and Recreation sponsors many community and special events throughout the year. Different events are geared toward children, families, or adults. Many of these events are free or at a minimal cost.

Cottonwood's Drive-Thru Trunk-Or-Treat - Halloween Night 4 - 7 pm

Located at Brian Mickelsen Prkw - Turn in off of 6th st. between the Cottonwood Public Library and the Recreation Center. Remain in your car and the trunk hosts will bring candy to you.

Princesses, dragons, ghosts, and ghouls! Join us on Halloween for a night filled with more tricks and than treats! Be sure to stick around for the scariest MOVIE-IN-THE-PARK as we screen Disney's Haunted Mansion. Trick or TReaters beware, you're in for a scare!!!

Held each year on the Fourth of July at the Cottonwood Kid’s Park adjacent to 12th Street. This family event has free hot dogs, hamburgers and watermelon, watermelon eating contests, patriotic salutes, and the best pyrotechnic show in Northern Arizona.

Old Town Music & the Market - 2020 season postponed.

Join us at the Old Town Activity Park for Thursday evenings in May, June, and September. Shop locally grown fruits and vegetables, handcrafted and homemade items, and more while listening to some of the best regional musicians around.

Cottonwood Summer Cinema Series - POSTPONED UNTIL 2021

Join us for free movies at the Old Town Activity Park and the Cottonwood Aquatics Center. Refreshments will be available for purchase at both locations. 

Dive-In Movies at the Cottonwood Aquatic Center: Second Saturday of June, July, and August. Gates open at 7:45 pm, movies begin at dark. Movies in the Park/Club House: Last Saturday of June and July. Seating begins at 7 pm, movies begin at dark.

Daddy Daughter Date Night - June 18, 2021

A special night for daughters ages 5 to 17 and their amazing dads. Held the Friday before Father’s Day at the Cottonwood Recreation Center. Tickets go on sale at the beginning of May.

Missoula Children’s Theatre - POSTPONED UNTIL 2021

The 2020 Cottonwood Residency is Jack and the Beanstalk. Auditions are Monday, June 22. Show up to register at 9:45 am for auditions that begin at 10 am. Auditions, rehearsals, and the show will be back at the newly renovated (and air-conditioned!) Cottonwood Community Club House (Cottonwood Civic Center) located at:

Tickets for the shows, Saturday, June 27 at 3 pm and 7 pm, will be available from performers and at the door. For more information contact Parks and Recreation at 928-639-3200. 

New Year’s Eve Celebration - TBD

Celebrate the New Year with the City of Cottonwood’s New Year’s Eve Celebration at the Cottonwood Recreation Center. Free for everyone! From 6 pm to 10 pm on December 31, 2020, we will have swimming, holiday movies, and popcorn, hot cocoa, family games, and more! Then join us in the gymnasium to watch the Time Square Ball Drop along with sparkling cider and our own balloon drop celebration. This is a fun, family-friendly, and free celebration event!

Old Fashioned Easter Egg Hunt - 2020 EVENT IS CANCELED

2020 EVENT IS CANCELED Cottonwood’s Old Fashioned Easter Egg Hunt is held yearly the Saturday before Easter. Children ages 1 month to 8 years gather at Riverfront Park with their baskets or bags to search for candy and prize filled eggs. The Cottonwood Youth Advisory Commission has been known to bring the Easter Bunny with them for hugs and pictures. The Hunt begins at 10 am, but arrive early as parking spots fill quickly. This is a free event.
