Criminal Investigations Unit

Staff

The Criminal Investigation Division (CID) is comprised of one sergeant, two detectives, and one evidence technician / property manager. This unit investigates major crimes, as well as those requiring resources not available within the patrol division. Criminal Investigators utilize advanced tools and training in order to prevent and solve crime for residents and businesses in Cottonwood.


Assignments

Reports compiled by the Cottonwood Police Department that require additional investigation are assigned to investigators according to the type of crime, possible lead and suspect information, and the potential for solvability.

  • Child Molestation
  • Child or Infant Death
  • Commercial Armed Robbery
  • Computer Facilitated Crimes

  • Forgery/Fraud/Identity Theft
  • Homicide
  • Kidnapping
  • Missing Persons (suspicious)
  • Officer Involved Shooting
  • Officer seriously injured
  • Sexual Assault
  • Suicide
  • Suspicious unattended deaths
