Cottonwood, Arizona is The Heart of Arizona Wine Country. Located in Arizona’s Verde Valley, this charming community is home to approximately 12,573 residents and serves a greater Verde Valley population of about 40,000. Its 3,300-foot-elevation, mild climate, and natural amenities, such as the Verde River, combine to make Cottonwood an ideal place to live, work and play.
Cottonwood is the vibrant commercial trade center of the Verde Valley and is a thriving community boasting of award-winning wineries and tasting rooms, a wonderful year-round climate, a superior quality of life, ample outdoor attractions, and a level of convenience with sophistication that others dream about.
The City of Cottonwood created the Tourism and Economic Development Department to promote the local economy while advancing local and regional tourism initiatives. Our focus is to enhance economic vitality and engagement between the City’s new tourism/economic development team and the business community. The purpose of this new department is to be a valuable resource to those that seek information about business attraction, relocation, retention/expansion, community development and/or redevelopment, retail and tourism-generating opportunities.
We serve as a vital community partner with assisting in job growth and retention, business sustainability and expansion, product development & improvement, marketing and promotions. This is demonstrated as we assist with job growth within industry clusters by maximizing the assets of Cottonwood; promote job creation and revenue generation of small business and local entrepreneurs; guide investment in infrastructure and key capital projects to stimulate private sector development and job growth; align workforce development with industry needs and continue to develop marketing tools that effectively reach these target audiences.
It is our goal to be the first stop for those seeking to do business within Cottonwood city limits. With this focus, we are knowledgeable about the business culture, the community and strive to engage proactively with entrepreneurs who are seeking vital economic data specific to Cottonwood.

In 2020, the city acquired the responsibility for the Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) an official designation with the Arizona Office of Tourism, designed to promote and enhance marketing, advertising and innovative media campaigns driven to capture unique visitors to Cottonwood.
Our team is focused on promoting Cottonwood as a tourism and business destination and is skilled in developing and maintaining effective resources and relationships throughout the community. The new Director is approachable, business-friendly, and focuses on creating a successful Tourism and Economic Development program through solid interdepartmental and community relationships.
