ASSISTANT PLANNER/CODE ENFORCEMENT

This is a non-exempt, Full-time position Range 20. Minimum Salary $17.09 per hour

DESCRIPTION: Under general supervision of the Public Works Manager , performs a variety of semi-skilled and unskilled tasks in the maintenance and servicing of City buildings and parks; ball field maintenance, trims trees, mows grass, runs a weed eater around buildings and facilities; and performs related duties as assigned.Under general supervision of the Community Development Manager, employees of this class shall perform routine and complex administrative and technical planning work associated with current and long-range planning, zoning, subdivisions, land use developments and implementation of municipal codes and policies as well as the state statute in relation to planning. The incumbent shall also be expected to exercise independent judgment, initiative, professional skill and knowledge in the day-to-day implementation of the Citys general plan, zoning and subdivision codes to effect the orderly regulation and control of the Citys development and growth. Also is responsible to help protect the safety and health of citizens by ensuring that the buildings and land in a municipality are in accordance with housing and zoning ordinances. They can also investigate the abandonment of vehicles, as these also fall under the category of maintaining the quality of the municipality.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:This classification is in an office environment requiring mostly sedentary activities for the majority of the workday.

The employee is expected to be able to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see, use hands and feet, feel objects such as office equipment and files and reach for materials at a customary height. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of one (1) year experience or education in urban planning, architecture, landscape architecture, geography, or a closely related field;
  • Must possess a valid Arizona drivers license at time of employment.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience with land use and building codes.
  • Experience with land use and building codes.
  • Equivalent of a bachelors degree from an accredited college with a major in urban planning, architecture, landscape architecture, geography, or a closely related field; and one (1) year of professional planning experience.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience working in a government organization, and/or one (1) year of experience involving code enforcement or law enforcement, and/or application and interpretation of municipal rules and regulations.

UTILITY BILLING CLERK

This is a Non-Exempt, At-will Full-time position. Range 12 Minimum Salary $14.06 per hour.

DEFINITION: Under direct supervision of the Utility Billing Supervisor, maintains the utility billing system(s) for the City by billing customers, collecting payments, providing information on accounts, collections, and bad debt accounts; updating the billing software database; and performs related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This classification is in an office environment requiring mostly sedentary activities for the majority of the workday.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School Graduate or GED equivalent. The possession of a valid Arizona drivers license, or the ability to obtain upon employment. Bi-Lingual in Spanish desired. Previous experience typing and 10 key.

UTILITY TECHNICIAN

This is a Non-Exempt, At-will Full-time position. Minimum Salary $13.83 per hour.

DEFINITION: Under close to general supervision from the Utility Operations Superintendent, reads water meters and performs related customer service and potable water system maintenance and repair activities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This classification involves work that requires the ability to traverse uneven terrain, climb ladders, perform repairs on equipment, lifting heavy objects up to 60 pounds, ability to wear a respirator and use potable water utility equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Possession of a High School Diploma or GED. Previous meter reading or potable water system experience is desired. Possession of, or ability to obtain a State of Arizona water operators license upon employment. Must possess a valid Arizona Drivers license.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: May be required to work overtime, holidays and weekends and be on-call 24 hours per day, per the departmental on-call policy. Must be able to respond to call out within twenty (20) minutes. Required to complete physical examination to ensure ability to perform work requirements.

PUBLIC WORKS MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN I

This is a non-exempt, Full-time position Range 10. Minimum Salary $12.75 per hour

DESCRIPTION: Under general supervision of the Public Works Manager , performs a variety of semi-skilled and unskilled tasks in the maintenance and servicing of City buildings and parks; ball field maintenance, trims trees, mows grass, runs a weed eater around buildings and facilities; and performs related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work involved in this classification includes the possibility for injury or harm to self and others due to the inappropriate use of equipment and tools. Work is sometimes performed outdoors during inclement weather. Duties will include climbing ladders, pushing/pulling, lifting various items and performing other general physical labor. The majority of this position will be weedeating outdoors.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The equivalent of two (2) years experience in buildings and grounds maintenance, or related field. Must have valid Arizona drivers license, and a High School diploma or GED equivalent by time of hire. Possession of or ability to obtain a commercial drivers license (CDL) within six months. Possession of or ability to obtain an Applicator License through the Department of Pest Management within 12 months. Desired: irrigation experience.
