COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST POLICE DEPARTMENT

Range 15, Non-Exempt, At-will, Full-time position. Entry Level Salary: $16 per hour - Actual salary DOE.

DEFINITION: Under close to general supervision, provides a link between citizens in need of assistance with police and fire services; coordinates and logs the activities associated with providing such service; accesses and provides information transfer to and from field units where telephone or an ACJIS terminal is required; provides emergency communications in the form of 9-1-1 services to the City of Cottonwood and surrounding communities; and performs related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time; Must be able to multi-task such as typing while answering phones; Must be able to visually observe and interpret data displayed on multiple dispatch computer monitors comprised of several windows per monitor; Must be able to hear radio and telephone conversations at an appropriate level so as to not cause radio interference; Must possess the ability to be clearly understood when speaking.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be a citizen of United States or legal to work in United States.
  2. Must have at least one (1) year of customer service related work experience.
  3. Must type at a minimum of 35 correct words per minute. (Typing certificate instructions are available at City of Cottonwood Human Resources Office, or on the City website.)
  4. Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
  5. Must be 18 years of age or older.
  6. Must meet Physical Requirements.

BUILDING OFFICIAL

Range 23, Exempt, Full-time position. Minimum Salary: $4,098.74 per month.

DESCRIPTION SUMMARY: Under general supervision of the Community Development Manager, ensures all provisions of the adopted Building, Plumbing, Mechanical and Electrical codes, the City Municipal Codes, Zoning Ordinance, and any other applicable codes are followed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This classification involves the physical effort of standing, walking, stooping, crawling, lifting small to medium weights and traversing uneven and/or rocky ground. These activities are sometimes performed in inclement weather. Maintain required physical abilities including: vision adequate to operate vehicles and equipment, read instructions and follow directions; hearing adequate to distinguish mechanical noises, converse on telephone and in person; body mobility adequate to perform required inspection duties; use of hands and fingers adequate for writing, typing and computer related functions; ability to lift tools and equipment, as needed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience: Total of five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience of a supervisory, administrative or professional nature and in the construction and inspection of public, commercial, industrial or residential buildings or comparable work that would have provided the opportunity to develop the required skills, knowledge and abilities.

Education: Equivalent of an Associate Degree from an accredited college or university with significant course work in the areas of structural, mechanical or civil engineering, architecture or a related field.

License or Certificate: Possess and maintain a valid Arizona Drivers License. Possess or be able to obtain Certification as a Building Official by the International Code Council (ICC) or other recognized certification program within 12 months of hire. Possess or be able to obtain a Certified Flood Manager (CFM) certificate from the Association of State Flood Plain Managers (ASFPM) within 12 months of hire.

TRANSPORTATION DRIVER - PART-TIME

Part-time, on-call as needed. Salary $12.61 per hour.

DEFINITION:Under general supervision of the Transportation Manager, provides public transportation to shopping centers, doctor’s offices, work, school, day care, etc. in a safe and timely manner; operates a city bus in accordance with city, state, and federal regulations; and performs related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:This classification involves light to heavy lifting and carrying due to passengers/parcels as required on and off the van wheelchair lift/ramp. This classification involves work driving transportation vehicles around the Verde Valley.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The equivalent of a high school diploma or GED and two (2) years driving multi-passenger commercial vehicles. The possession of a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Class C, with passenger endorsement is required or the ability to obtain within thirty (30) days upon employment. Must have or be able to obtain a Level One Fingerprint Clearance card.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:All new hires for the Cottonwood Area Transit System department are required to pass a post-job offer, pre-employment drug test. All employees who work in the Cottonwood Area Transit System department will be subject to random drug and alcohol testing.

PART-TIME DRIVERS:Scheduled work hours - Posted monthly (times subject to change)

SOLID WASTE TRANSFER STATION OPERATOR

This is a non-exempt, part-time, position with no benefits, except required Arizona State Retirement System participation. This position is also temporary until a larger regional transfer station is operational. Minimum wage: $9.25/hour.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work involved in this classification includes the possibility for injury or harm to self and others due to the inappropriate use of equipment and tools. Work is often performed outdoors during inclement weather. Involves general labor work requiring light to heavy lifting and carrying.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from High School or equivalent. State of Arizona Driver’s License required.
