COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST POLICE DEPARTMENT

Range 15, Non-Exempt, At-will, Full-time position. Entry Level Salary: $15.50 per hour - Actual salary DOE.

DEFINITION: Under close to general supervision, provides a link between citizens in need of assistance with police and fire services; coordinates and logs the activities associated with providing such service; accesses and provides information transfer to and from field units where telephone or an ACJIS terminal is required; provides emergency communications in the form of 9-1-1 services to the City of Cottonwood and surrounding communities; and performs related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time; Must be able to multi-task such as typing while answering phones; Must be able to visually observe and interpret data displayed on multiple dispatch computer monitors comprised of several windows per monitor; Must be able to hear radio and telephone conversations at an appropriate level so as to not cause radio interference; Must possess the ability to be clearly understood when speaking.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be a citizen of United States or legal to work in United States.
  2. Must have at least one (1) year of customer service related work experience.
  3. Must type at a minimum of 35 correct words per minute. (Typing certificate instructions are available at City of Cottonwood Human Resources Office.)
  4. Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
  5. Must be 18 years of age or older.
  6. Must meet Physical Requirements.

UTILITY TECHNICIAN

Range 12, Non-Exempt, At-will, Full-Time position. Entry Level Salary $13.83 per hour

DEFINITION: Under close to general supervision from the Utility Operations Manager, reads water meters and performs related customer service and potable water system maintenance and repair activities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This classification involves work that requires the ability to traverse uneven terrain, climb ladders, perform repairs on equipment, lifting heavy objects up to 60 pounds, ability to wear a respirator and use potable water utility equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Possession of a High School Diploma or GED. Previous meter reading or potable water system experience is desired. Possession of, or ability to obtain a State of Arizona water operators license upon employment. Must possess a valid Arizona Drivers license.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: May be required to work overtime, holidays and weekends and be on-call 24 hours per day, per the departmental on-call policy. Must be able to respond to call out within twenty (20) minutes. Required to complete physical examination to ensure ability to perform work requirements.

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT - FINANCE/HUMAN RESOURCES

Range 13 Non-Exempt, At-will, Full-Time position. Entry Level Salary $14.52 per hour

DEFINITION: Under general supervision of the Administrative Services General Manager, plans, organizes, develops and coordinates administrative functions for the Finance and Human Resources department; performs administrative, secretarial and clerical duties in providing supportive efforts to the Finance and Human Resources department; and performs related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The equivalent of three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience including one (1) year bookkeeping/payroll experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This classification is mainly in an office environment; however it may also involves some outdoor work and the ability to traverse uneven terrain.

FIREFIGHTER

Range 20 Non-exempt, Full-time. Minimum salary: $1,634.15/Bi-weekly

DEFINITION: Under general supervision of the Shift Captain, responds to emergency calls for assistance from the public and participates in fire suppression, emergency medical treatment, rescue, hazardous material incident mitigation and special operations; and performs related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work involved in this classification includes exposure to major hazards during the suppression and prevention of fires, mitigation of hazardous materials, emergency medical/rescue and disaster response. Must pass medical physical by Fire Department physician. Must successfully complete job-related physical agility testing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Requires a high school diploma or G.E.D. Requires valid Arizona State FF II certification (or valid IFSAC FF II certification) and current Arizona EMT certification. Also requires Hazardous Materials First Responder certification (meeting OSHA 1910.120 requirements). Must possess a valid Arizona Driver’s license. Employees who are new to the Fire Department agree they will have no outside employment during their 12-month orientation period.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION: Current Arizona Paramedic certification. The equivalent of an associates degree from an accredited community college, college, or university with a major in fire science or related field. Fire apparatus operation training and experience. Bilingual in English/Spanish.

RESIDENT REQUIREMENTS: Primary residence must be established and maintained within 30 minutes legal driving time to the fire station within one year of employment. Residence must be maintained through tenure at the Cottonwood Fire Department.
