COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST POLICE DEPARTMENT

Range 15, Non-Exempt, At-will, Full-time position. Entry Level Salary: $16 per hour, Maximum Salary: $23.59 per hour- Actual salary DOE

DEFINITION: Under close to general supervision, provides a link between citizens in need of assistance with police and fire services; coordinates and logs the activities associated with providing such service; accesses and provides information transfer to and from field units where telephone or an ACJIS terminal is required; provides emergency communications in the form of 9-1-1 services to the City of Cottonwood and surrounding communities; and performs related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time; Must be able to multi-task such as typing while answering phones; Must be able to visually observe and interpret data displayed on multiple dispatch computer monitors comprised of several windows per monitor; Must be able to hear radio and telephone conversations at an appropriate level so as to not cause radio interference; Must possess the ability to be clearly understood when speaking.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be a citizen of United States or legal to work in United States.
  2. Must have at least one (1) year of customer service related work experience.
  3. Must type at a minimum of 35 correct words per minute.
  4. Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
  5. Must be 18 years of age or older.
  6. Must meet Physical Requirements.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work involved in this classification includes full time law enforcement activities including, but not limited to standing and/or walking for extended periods, short sprints, long pursuit running lasting over 2 minutes, running up and down stairs, pushing heavy objects such as vehicles, jumping over and around obstacles, lifting and carrying objects sometimes up and down stairs, using hands and feet in use of force situations, performance of appropriate defensive tactics and suspect control techniques, using force in short and long term (greater than 2 minutes) efforts, bending and reaching, dragging people and objects as in extracting victims from vehicles.

PHYSICAL TESTING MINIMUM STANDARDS- Peace Officer Physical Aptitutde Test (P.O.P.A.T)

  • 99-Yard Obstacle Course (tested twice)
  • 165-pound body drag (32 feet) (tested twice)
  • Solid-Fence Climb (6ft.) (tested twice)
  • Chain-Link Fence Climb (6ft.) (tested twice)
  • 500-Yard Run (tested once)
  • Applicants seeking employment with the Cottonwood Police Department as a cadet/recruit officer must attain 345 cumulative points in order to pass the physical fitness requirement. Applicants who qualify as laterals per AZ P.O.S.T. rules or are currently certified must attain the minimum of 384 cumulative points. Scores will be computed from the times obtained from the above listed events.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The equivalent of a high school diploma or GED, 21 years of age upon completion of police academy, and ability to successfully complete the Arizona P.O.S.T. minimum Certification requirements. Must possess the ability to be clearly understood when speaking. **Note**Police Officers must meet the requirements of Cottonwood Police Department General Order 205 General Appearance. Specifically section B Figure 2.6 and 2.7 which state that officers will display no body piercing (with limited exceptions for female employees) and no visible tattoos (tattoos on arms may be covered with long sleeves at all times).

LIBRARY ASSISTANT II

Range 17, non-exempt, full-time, Minimum Salary $17.65 per hour; Maximum Salary $26.00 per hour.

DESCRIPTION SUMMARY: Under limited supervision of the Library Supervisor, provides assistance in a number of library clerical roles: performs administrative and secretarial duties in providing supportive efforts to the Library Manager and Library Supervisor; maintains library website; supports and acts as Library computer emerging technology technician, and performs related duties as assigned. Designated work hours are Monday through Friday and is subject to change.

PHYSICAL AND VISUAL REQUIREMENTS: Sufficient to effectively and safely perform required duties. This classification involves work in a quiet library setting that requires physical effort. This classification requires pushing heavy book carts and loaded dollies with weights as high as 100 pounds. It also requires bending, stooping, reaching and climbing on ladders; lifting stacks of books, boxes of books, equipment, supplies, tables, chairs and other library materials. Ability to read small print on book spines for re-shelving purposes. Must have hearing and speaking ability sufficient to clearly and concisely communicate in person and over the telephone.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The equivalent of five (5) years professional library experience. Demonstrated interpersonal skills, aptitude for detailed work. Computer experience in Microsoft Windows and an automated library environment is essential.

ENGINEER (PE)

Range 28, Exempt, At-will, Full-time position. Entry Level Salary: Min $30.18 per hour; Max $44.47 per hour; Actual Salar DOE.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Under limited supervision of the Development Services Manager, reviews private development projects, municipal capital improvement projects, streets drainage and water and wastewater utility projects. Independently evaluates, selects and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications. Performs engineering work relating to utility and public works projects, storm water projects, water production, treatment, storage, pumping, distribution system infrastructure, wastewater collection, treatment and reuse facilities, streets, and transportation; stamps plans and reports requiring PE registrant approval and performs related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This classification involves work that requires the ability to traverse uneven terrain and use of the public works vehicles for transportation to job sites.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The equivalent of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in engineering. Possession of a Professional Engineer certification in the State of Arizona is required. Must obtain designation as a Certified Flood Plain Manager within twelve months of hire.
