ENGINEER (PE)

Range 28, Exempt, At-will, Full-time position. Entry Level Salary: $29.24 per hour.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Under limited supervision of the Development Services General Manager and the Development Services Manager, reviews private development projects, municipal capital improvement projects, streets drainage and water and wastewater utility projects. Independently evaluates, selects and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications. Performs engineering work relating to utility and public works projects, water production, treatment, storage, pumping, distribution system infrastructure, wastewater collection, treatment and reuse facilities, streets, and transportation; stamps plans and reports requiring PE registrant approval and performs related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This classification involves work that requires the ability to traverse uneven terrain and use of the public works vehicles for transportation to job sites.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The equivalent of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in engineering. Possession of a Professional Engineer certification in the State of Arizona is required. Must obtain designation as a Certified Flood Plain Manager within twelve months of hire.

COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST POLICE DEPARTMENT

Range 15, Non-Exempt, At-will, Full-time position. Entry Level Salary: $15.50 per hour - Actual salary DOE.

DEFINITION: Under close to general supervision, provides a link between citizens in need of assistance with police and fire services; coordinates and logs the activities associated with providing such service; accesses and provides information transfer to and from field units where telephone or an ACJIS terminal is required; provides emergency communications in the form of 9-1-1 services to the City of Cottonwood and surrounding communities; and performs related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time; Must be able to multi-task such as typing while answering phones; Must be able to visually observe and interpret data displayed on multiple dispatch computer monitors comprised of several windows per monitor; Must be able to hear radio and telephone conversations at an appropriate level so as to not cause radio interference; Must possess the ability to be clearly understood when speaking.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be a citizen of United States or legal to work in United States.
  2. Must have at least one (1) year of customer service related work experience.
  3. Must type at a minimum of 35 correct words per minute. (Typing certificate instructions are available at City of Cottonwood Human Resources Office.)
  4. Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
  5. Must be 18 years of age or older.

PURCHASING AGENT

Range 22, Exempt, Full-Time, Entry Level Salary $3,845.83 per month.

DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:Under supervision of the Administrative Services General Manager, performs and manages purchasing duties involving a wide variety of materials, supplies, equipment, and services for the City. Responsible for the following duties: drafting, review, and comparison of specifications and prices of competitive items; the examination, inspection, and comparison of the quality of merchandise and/or services purchased or to be purchased by the City; the drafting, editing, review, and interpretation of contract terms, conditions, and specifications; the evaluation of proposals, bids, and quotations; and the awarding or recommendation of contract awards within prescribed limits; solicits bids and negotiates contracts; and performs related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position will typically require: reaching, fingering, grasping, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), kneeling, carrying, pushing, pulling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Work is conducted in a combination of indoor, outdoor and warehouse environment. Majority of work day will be in an office setting.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelorís degree in purchasing, financial accounting, business administration, public administration or related field, OR education, training and/or experience equivalent to five years of full-time professional-level experience involving the acquisition of equipment, supplies, commodities, or services for a government agency or private company. Experience should include working with a substantial purchasing program involving a competitive bidding and negotiation process. Experience in developing, evaluating and administering contracts, preferably for a municipal government, is required. Must have at least one year in a supervisory capacity. Must have or be able to obtain a valid Arizona driverís license by date of hire. Highly desirable: NIGP (National Institute of Governmental Purchasing) CPPB (Certified Professional Public Buyer) or CPPO (Certified Public Procurement Officer) certification.

PUBLIC SAFETY COMMUNICATIONS SUPERVISOR

Range 20, Non-exempt, Full-time position. Minimum Salary: $20.13 per hour.

DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:Under general direction of the Public Safety Communications Manager, supervises Public Safety Communications and Public Safety Answering Point operations; performs all duties of a Communications Specialist; provides scheduling and training, performance evaluation, and discipline; assists communications manager; drafts operating policies; conducts audits and reviews audio tapes; ensures policy and guidelines are followed and all certifications are met and kept current; ensures 24-hour uninterrupted communications service to the agencies are maintained; receives and processes 911, emergency, non-emergency, and administrative calls for public safety organizations; and performs related duties as assigned.Under general supervision of the Community Development Manager, ensures all provisions of the adopted Building, Plumbing, Mechanical and Electrical codes, the City Municipal Codes, Zoning Ordinance, and any other applicable codes are followed.

Must successfully complete comprehensive background check and must obtain Level A ACJIS certification. Must have a valid AZ driverís license. Must be a citizen of United States or legal to work in United States.

BUILDING INSPECTOR

Range 18, Non-Exempt, Full-time position. Minimum Salary: 18.26-21.12 per hour.

DESCRIPTION SUMMARY: Under direct supervision of the Building Official, inspects building projects and determines their degree of code compliance; serves customers at the front counter and advises them as to code requirements; reviews plans for code requirements; investigates code and illegal sign violations; permit processing which may include assisting the Building Official in compilation and writing of monthly reports; performs MS4 storm water inspections and investigates violations and performs related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This classification requires agility and balance to use ladders for accessing scaffolding and building roofs, ability to negotiate uneven and steep terrain, be able to enter and be mobile in crawl spaces, attics, and other confined spaces. An incumbent may occasionally need to move an object weighing less than 50 pounds.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:The equivalent of International Code Council (ICC) certification as a Building Inspector or ability to obtain certifications within 12 months, and three (3) years construction or building inspection experience. Possession of a valid Arizona driverís license.
