Kyla Allen has been a resident of Cottonwood for over 32 years, having relocated to Arizona to raise her children in a small town/rural atmosphere.
She has worked in municipalities for over 25 years beginning her service in the Verde Valley at Cottonwood City Hall. She progressed through ranks, including positions as the Admin to the Fire Chief, then Police Chief, with her last position serving as the Assistant to the City Manager. She received her Management Certification through Yavapai College and graduated from the Verde Valley Leadership Program Class III.
She has served on countless boards and commissions, being most proud of serving on the MATForce Steering Committee. Currently she serves as the Vice President of the Northern Arizona Professional Women’s Group, Secretary for the Verde Valley Leadership Board of Directors, and as a Director on the Verde Valley Military Service Park Committee.
After retiring and becoming an empty nester when the youngest of her 6 children spread their wings, and with the support of her husband Jim Allen, it was a natural progression to make the commitment to become a City Council Member. After having served only 18-months she was appointed by the Council to the position of Vice Mayor.
