Cottonwood Buckle Series
In a time of economic hardships volunteers keep the Cottonwood Equestrian and Animal Events Center moving forward. This winter the equine center continues to evolve into one of the state’s premier facilities. Thanks to volunteers like Steve Rench and Ginny Rench of Verde Valley Weed Control, and Craig Stevens for the 150X100 warm-up arena.
This winter the arena received some much needed improvements from volunteers: Craig Stevens, Jim Starkey, Pete Chamberlin, Butch Vandarvduck, Dennis Kochhesier and Steve Rench. The improvements included expanding the fenced storage space, replacing the roof on the check in booth and running fence from the port-a-pots to the arena. The arena was also leveled, and the warm-up arena was ripped and planed. Without volunteers these vast improvements would not have been possible.
This spring dust off those saddles and clean those ponies for the “Cottonwood Buckle Series.”. The series is held each Thursday from 5:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. The series consists of timed pole bending and timed barrel racing. Cost is $5 a ride $3 for time. Ages 5 and up are allowed to compete. Division of competition will be based on an average of times over a 2-week period.
