Victim Assistance

The Cottonwood Police Department's Victim Assistance unit strives to provide support, information and referrals to any person who is a victim of a crime.

The Victim Assistance Unit offers a number of services to victims of crime, including:

  • Case status updates
  • Information on crime victim’s rights
  • Referrals to crisis counseling
  • On-site crisis intervention and follow-up
  • Advocacy within the criminal justice system and the court processes
  • Assistance with filing petitions for Orders of Protection and Victim Compensation
  • Court accompaniment and support
  • Assistance with emergency needs, such as food, clothing, shelter and transportation

We have joined Victim Link to bring Seek Then Speak to

our community. Seek Then Speak helps sexual assault

victims and their support people gather information,

explore options, and take action. By guiding you through

a series of questions, you can figure out which options

are right for you. You can get in touch with someone

called an advocate, who can help you through this

process, and you can even start reporting to law

enforcement, if you choose.
