Construction ahead of schedule, preliminary work in Phase 4 to begin early!
COTTONWOOD, Ariz. – The Main Street Improvements Project is currently way ahead of schedule! We are working to complete Phase 2 of the Main Street Improvements Project, which includes removing and replacing the asphalt pavement along Main Street (from the City limits to Cactus Street). With Phase 2 scheduled to be completed on Saturday, July 19, the schedule for the next few weeks is as follows:
- Phase 3 (Cactus Street to Willard Street): Night of Sunday, July 20 to Sunday, August 3. Construction activities will occur at night from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m., with road closures in place 24-hours-a-day. Construction activities include removing and replacing the asphalt pavement along Main Street, from Cactus Street to Willard Street. During this work, Main Street will be closed to all traffic. Traffic will be detoured down Cactus Street at Pima Street for the majority of Phase 3, with multiple detour routes and flagging operations in place during work between Pima Street and Willard Street. Please note that the portion of the work between Pima Street and Willard Street will be constructed 24-hours-a-day to expedite completion.
- Phase 4 (Willard Street to the new 10th Street roundabout): Sunday, July 20 to Thursday, July 24, crews will be removing a thin layer of asphalt in preparation for asphalt reconstruction. Please note that all lanes and access to residences and businesses will remain open throughout the Phase 4 extents during the week of July 20. Starting Monday, August 4, crews will return to remove and replace the asphalt pavement within Phase 4.
Following the completion of Phase 4, crews will perform miscellaneous clean-up and striping operations. Please note that this work is highly weather dependent and subject to change. We will work to ensure access for deliveries and public parking lots. Pedestrian access to businesses will always be provided during construction. Signage will be in place to guide motorists and pedestrians to their destination.
