[ARCHIVED] City of Cottonwood PSA Regarding Partial Reopening of Riverfront Park

CITY OF COTTONWOOD PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

February 19, 2019

Riverfront Park - Partial Reopening

Effective:  Tuesday, February 19, 2019 - 3:00 p.m.

This is an important message from the City of Cottonwood Public Works Department. Today City crews were onsite performing cleanup efforts to take the necessary steps toward reopening all of Riverfront Park. As of 3:00 P.M., today, the following portions of Riverfront Park have been reopened to the public; the skate park and softball fields. The disc golf course is "play at your own rick" due to downed trees and site conditions not being right to access the course with equipment.

As of 3:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 19, 2019 the swing sets, kids playground, picnic ramadas and volleyball courts remain CLOSED.  It is anticipated that the Riverfront Park will be reopened in its entirety to the public by the close of business on Wednesday, February 20, 2019.

As the week progresses, the National Weather Service is predicting a significant winter weather storm to impact our region beginning late in the evening on Wednesday, February 20th and lasting through the afternoon of Friday, February 22nd. The National Weather Service is predicting a significant amount of snow accumulations for Northern Arizona with an expected snow level of around 3,000 feet. Residents should be prepared for cold weather and potential snow and ice.
