City of Cottonwood Candidate Packets Available from City Clerk
Candidate packets containing the forms and petitions required to run for office in the City of Cottonwood’s fall 2020 election are available from the Cottonwood City Clerk. The mayor and four council member seats will be open for election. The current council member terms that expire in 2020 are Tosca Henry, Ruben Jauregui, the appointed seats of Jackie Nairn and Debbie Wilden, and Mayor Tim Elinski. One of the four council member seats, currently held by Jackie Nairn, is for a two-year term (to fill the remainder of a four-year term vacated by Kyla Allen). All other seats are four-year terms.
Prospective candidates must have resided within the city limits for one year preceding the election, be 18 years of age or more on or before the election, be a qualified elector at the time of the election, and restored his civil rights if having been convicted of a felony.
Candidate nomination forms may be filed no earlier than March 9, 2020, with the City Clerk at 824 North Main Street, Cottonwood, AZ 86326. The deadline for filing is April 6, 2020, by 5:00 p.m.
The city’s primary election is scheduled for August 4, 2020, and if required, a general run-off election will be held on November 3, 2020.
