[ARCHIVED] City buildings closing early on Friday so employees may attend Commander Makuch service

City buildings will close at noon on Friday, September 18, to allow City employees time to attend funeral services for Commander Jody Makuch. If you have any business to conduct with the City, please do so prior to the closure. The Cottonwood Public Library and Recreation Center will remain open and Transit buses will continue normal operations. Services for Commander Makuch will be held on Friday, September 18, 2 p.m. at Verde Community Church, 102 S. Willard Street, Cottonwood. Verde Valley TV will be live streaming the service for those unable to attend or who have compromised immune systems.

Commander Jody Makuch was killed on September 7 in a motorcycle accident. The City of Cottonwood was fortunate to have such a well-respected member of our community serving our police department, and this loss is felt deeply by all who have known him, both professionally and personally. He had been with the Cottonwood PD since January 2000 and will be missed by his team and the community he served.
